2020 LDGA Cajun Classic

It was a long, hot couple of days at the Louisiana Dairy Goat Association Cajun Classic in Louisiana. There were huge Nigerian Dwarf classes, with over 100 juniors, but we didn’t do too bad.

We brought 4 goats: MCH Chicks with Goats Rebel Poe, MerryTale RP Dazzling Lyra, MerryTale RP Amidala, MerryTale RP Hera Syndulla.

Really proud of how well Hera and Amidala did! Proof that Poe is putting some good traits and conformation on his kids.

Day 1 Results

  • Hera placed 1st and 6th out of 32 kids age 3-6 months.
  • Amidala placed 2nd and 3rd out of 16 kids age 6-9 months.
  • Lyra didn’t make the cut in either ring in a class of 33 kids age 12-18 months.
  • Poe placed 3rd in both rings.

Day 2 of the LDGA Cajun Classic was maybe a touch cooler, but Louisiana sure is hot and humid in mid July! All the junior classes were huge except for the 0-3 month and 9-12 month classes. Over 30 kids each in the 3-6 month and 12-18 month classes, with 16 in the 6-9 month class. I was quite surprised by the number of dry yearlings at the show!

Day 2 Results

  • MerryTale RP Amidala placed 1st and 7th (6-9 month)
  • MerryTale RP Hera Syndulla placed 6th (3-6 month)
  • MerryTale RP Dazzling Lyra placed 8th (12–18 month)
  • Poe placed 2nd and 3rd

Thank you the LDGA for a fun show and the chance to get our animals in the ring. We’re very proud that both Hera and Amidala earned a 1st place in big classes with tough competition. And that we made the championship line up 4 times (Hera 1x, Amidala 2x, Poe 1x).
